Hi! I’m Ashlie Hashimoto and I first learned about doulas eight years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. Just like every mother, I began to search out options for my birth. This led to me to learning about doulas, a word in which I hadn’t even heard before this point. As soon as I educated myself, I knew I needed one on my team, so I hired an amazing woman to help my partner and I on this wild ride of pregnancy and into parenthood. Fast forward eight years and here I am now serving women and helping families enter a new chapter in their lives!
I've now been a birth doula for over 4 years and in that time have attended over a 100 births. In that time I've learned so much and my passion and love for my job just keeps growing. I believe that birth is birth is birth, be that in a hospital or at home. Everyone deserves to be supported in whatever that looks like. My end goal is that families felt like that had options and were in charge of their own process whatever that may be.
I am a birth doula, postpartum doula and board-certified music therapist serving families in Salt Lake County. I love working with all families including LGBTQ+ parents, adoptive parents, and single parents. I accompany families giving birth in the hospital, a birth center, or at home, and I support all types of birth. I believe it is every birthing person’s right to be educated about their birth options, and to have a birth experience that is safe, supported and empowering.
As a board-certified music therapist, I have extensive clinical training on how to use music to help people reach goals, experience deep inner connection, and process difficult emotions. I specialize in Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth, an evidence-based technique where I help expecting families incorporate music into their labor in order to experience deeper connection, confidence and strength during their birth experience. I also help parents write original songs called "womb songs" to their babies, facilitating deep bonding and connection.
Hi, thanks for taking a minute to read about me!
I am a mother, wife, yogi, bookworm, and wanna-be world traveler. I am also a birth doula, Hypnobabies instructor, placenta encapsulation specialist and trainer, bengkung belly binder- offering differing styles/patterns for binds, and a fertility educator.
As a doula and childbirth educator, I love to help moms have the best birth possible whatever that means to them. Providing moms with knowledge equates to power for them and their birth experience. Helping women learn and understand tools needed to help create a peaceful birthing experience, is something I consider vital for a birthing woman and am proud to offer that.
I have supported moms in many birth situations such as vaginal breech birth, home births, planned epidurals, special needs c-section, and unmedicated births. I am very familiar with Hypnobabies, Bradley, and HypnoBirthing methods of childbirth as well as many other mindful birthing practices. I have built and maintained good working relationships with many of the care providers along the Northern Wasatch Front and am committed to creating and maintaining a positive birth experience for a mother and her birth team.
My role as a postpartum service provider is multi-faceted and I try to help my clients however is needed. The most popular ways I do this is with placenta encapsulating and belly binding. I've seen amazing benefits from both services that helps new mothers ease into their new roles confidently. I also help with breastfeeding as needed and can refer to experts in this field if it is beyond my knowledge.
As a fertility educator, I strive to help women understand their menstrual cycle and fertility patterns. Being aware of our fertility pattern is the first line of defense in spotting any type of menstrual or infertility issues, all of which have something to do, on some level, with our hormones. I help women recognize that what we put in to our bodies has a direct effect on the many uncomfortable symptoms that women experience on a regular basis. I want women to have a happy period!
If any of this sounds like something right up your alley, let's chat!

I am proud to serve the women in Salt Lake, Davis/Weber counties, and surrounding Logan areas.
I’m Lindsey and the woman (wife & mother) behind Born Birth Photography in Salt Lake City, Utah. I’m originally from Austin, Texas and say things like “y’all” & “fixin’ to”, minus the Southern accent. I rarely wear make-up and could spend hours sipping a chai latte lost in meaningful thought or conversation. I believe knowledge is power and make my most important life decisions from a place love and instinct.
A lot of love goes in to every Birth, Just Born, & Breastfeeding photography session. A full service experience leaving you with high quality images that celebrate your birth story & breastfeeding journey. Years from now, you'll relive your story through a series of images of one of the most wondrous & soulful experience life offers. I'm here to tell the stories of all women and show that every birth is beautiful. If I can somehow expose women to all of their birthing options, shift gender inequalities, and lessen the stigma surrounding motherhood, birth, & breastfeeding--even just a little, then my heart is full.
P.S. I am currently offering discounted portfolio sessions for Birth, Just Born, & Breastfeeding photos. Please check out the Services & Pricing page on the website for details.
I am passionate about birth and helping women through their journey into motherhood. My life calling is to create a peaceful loving environment for babies to be welcomed into this world. Each birth is a new beginning. I provide emotional and physical support to women and their families through this process.
In 2015, I received my training through DONA and Doula Caribe. I am certified through DONA as a birth doula, and through Doula Caribe as a birth and postpartum doula. I am an apprentice midwife and will become a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in 2019. I have a BA in Spanish. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish
I have two sons. The oldest was born at a birth center in 2011 and the youngest at home in 2012. I am from Utah and currently live in Bountiful. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and exercising.
My journey into doula work and childbirth education began almost 20 years ago when I discovered a copy of Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin. I instantly became a self-certified birth junkie! Ever since then I have been devouring information about pregnancy and childbirth. I have also had the experience of giving birth to my own four children, four very different experiences that have taught me a lot, including many things that researching and reading cannot! I have a B.A. in Education from Westminster College, and a minor in Child Developmental Psychology. I became certified as a Hypnobabies™ Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor in 2010. I became a DONA trained doula in 2014, and a trained postpartum doula in 2015. I am an ongoing student of birth and breastfeeding, always working on a few projects. When I am not doing anything birth related, I am mothering my own children or enjoying the outdoors.
My goal as a doula is to help my clients and their partners feel empowered and confident about their pregnancy and birth. Birth is so beautiful and I want to help families experience a strengthening and empowering birth.
I would love to meet with you about becoming your doula!
When pregnant with my first child, I discovered Ina May Gaskin’s Guide to Childbirth Book. I fell in love with the stories of women discovering their strength through childbirth, and after an empowering birth experience of my own, I knew I wanted to be involved in birth on a more professional level. In 2013, I became a DONA trained and certified birth doula. I have experience in hospital, birth center, and home birth settings. Additionally, I am currently working on my Advanced Doula Certification through the Midwives College of Utah. I find such fulfillment in using the skills I learn through my continued education to serve moms in the community through doula work. Birth is unpredictable, but having the right birth team in place can make all the difference in your birth experience. I am so honored to be part of such a significant event in the lives of my clients. I believe that each momma, dad, and baby deserves to have a peaceful and positive birth experience, whatever that looks like to them. When I am not doula-ing, I can be found with my children, often enjoying the outdoors, or working on house renovation projects.
I am a fully trained doula, currently working toward DONA certification. My long-term goals include earning my degree as a certified nurse midwife. I support my clients by educating them and helping them make informed decisions. I employ a hands-on approach and tailor my methods to the needs and preferences of my clients.
