Providers

Choosing a care provider who is just right for you may take some time and effort.  Many women choose their doctor or midwife simply based on the referral of a friend or family member.  It is important, however, to make sure the care provider is a good fit for you and your personal birth desires.  It is possible to make appointments to “meet and greet” someone you may be considering.  Ask questions about aspects of birth that are important to you.  Unfortunately insurance dictates some of the decision based on which providers they will cover but most plans offer a variety of choices.  It can be helpful to talk to a doula who has worked with a particular provider, she will have seen him or her in a birth setting and help you to know if it will be a good fit for you.
