Kasaundra Trout started her journey as a doula in 2014. She began with an apprenticeship under a local Hypnobabies instructor and has completed training as a Hypnodoula through The Curtis Method. Kasaundra strongly believes in continuing education and has completed certifications and trainings in rebozo work and lactation assistance. She has experience with unmedicated birth, epidural birth, water birth, cesareans, VBAC, birth centers, hospitals, homebirths, twins, rapid birth, and maternal mental health. Kasaundra’s volunteer work includes co-secretary of the Utah Doula Association, Vice President of Utah Valley’s Moms of Multiples club, and organizing clothing drives/fundraisers for homeless veterans and hurricane victims. She is currently co-owner in Utah County’s only doula partnership with Maura Mendenhall.
When she can find them, Kasaundra is mom to four beautiful kids and wife to her high school sweetheart. She got her start in the birth world when preparing for her vbac following the birth of her twins. She learned that birth was something to embrace as a unique part of each family’s story. Kasaundra enjoys reading novels, visiting Park City with her family, singing with her folk group, and discovering bingeworthy TV. She speaks Spanish and loves to meet people and hear the unique stories they have to tell.
I am a trained DONA doula servicing the North Utah/Hill AFB area. My family and I moved here from the South GA/North FL area. I am a retired Air Force medic and mother of 4 beautiful boys. I earned my Associates degree in Allied Health Science in 2010 and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2014. I completed my DONA Doula Birth training in Aug 2016 and Postpartum training in Nov 2016. Becoming a mother was so life changing for me in so many positive ways. I realized how important it was to be supported on this journey. I “believe a woman’s journey to motherhood starts in pregnancy and hits its first of many climaxes, with birth.”
What is my role as a birth doula?
As a birth doula service provider, I help women stay strong and calm during birth. I will offer comfort measures, coping techniques, and constant presence to help you create a satisfying birth experience.
I will work to provide comfort and perspective to you and your partner. As your doula, I work for you directly, not for your caregiver or hospital. My goal as your doula is to be completely present for your birth experience–physically, emotionally and energetically.
What is my role as a postpartum doula?
As a postpartum doula I provide care during the first days or weeks after childbirth. I can do all sorts of things to help ease your transition to new parenthood/expanding family — from caring for you and your baby and offering breastfeeding advise, to cooking, babysitting, running errands, and even doing light housework.
Maybe you don’t have a willing mother or other relative ready to pitch in after you have your baby. Or maybe you’d simply prefer to use a doula’s services instead of, or in addition to, a relative’s help. Either way — you’ll find the help of a good postpartum doula invaluable.

I started my path towards being a Birth & Postpartum Doula when I attended the University of Utah in 2005. I studied in depth: Bartenieff Fundamentals, Somatics, Feldenkrais Method, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Childhood Development, Teaching Methods along with Various Traditional Dance Styles. These subject matters helped me deeply understand human development, effective ways to educate another child/adult & movement of the body.
In 2009, I graduated from the University of Utah with my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Modern Dance & Education. I started teaching in various settings through the public & private school sectors.
I received my Yoga Teacher Training through Prana Yoga Studio in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2012. Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Mantra & Meditation work peaked my interest during training. I also fell in love with learning about Ayurvedic medicine and I continue to study at great lengths today. This year I studied through Utah Prenatal Yoga and received my prenatal yoga training. My training helped me develop new, diverse ways to keeping the body and mind connected through a balanced, realistic approach.
In 2012, I started working privately with prenatal yoga clients through the duration of their pregnancy. I wanted to ensure clients learned through the yoga scope a balanced diet, coping skills and physical comforts for during labor, delivery & the postpartum period. Currently, I am teaching prenatal/postpartum yoga classes privately and through hospital supported progams in Salt Lake City.
Since 2015, I have taught healing, restorative yoga & dance classes to sexual assault survivors through UVU & HelpingSAVE. Because I am a teacher for groups healing from trauma I have taken extra therapeutic healing, anxiety reduction & suicide prevention trainings.
In 2015, I received my Birth and Postpartum Doula Certifications through DONA International. I was trained in California, one of the most progressive birth states in America. I received my CD(DONA) and PCD(DONA) accreditation from DONA International in the summer of 2016. This extra education was important to me so I could confidently educate parents on the ever-changing birth and postpartum stages with the most up to date facts and research.
I have helped many families on the road to parenthood & continue to do so whether it’s the first or fifth. I am continually studying to improving my knowledge of the body, the process of prenatal care, labor support & postpartum infrastructure.
Doula work is so important to me because it provides parents with an un-biased education and skills to having a safe, satisfying birth and postpartum experience. A supportive start into a new childs life can be the answer to developing happier children, more evolved adults, caring parents & an overall healthier lifestyle.
Knowledge is the key ingredient to self-confidence & personal power. With these things we can create a better world to live in & sustain a life that is desired and loved.
In my free time I enjoy spending my time learning, teaching & exploring. I am always on the move keeping myself actively participating in my community. I am a tea lover, always hunting for something unique to make tonics and tinctures with. My partner & I have two cats, an organic garden & a wildlife habitat with birds, squirrels, butterflies and ow

I believe experience is our best teacher! I have been blessed to experience 9 pregnancies and 8 births, each a unique journey of learning and growth. I began supporting mothers post-partum as a young aunt. I followed my mother’s example in supporting my sisters as they brought little ones to earth. Nights spent cuddling my neices and nephews as newborns so their mamas could sleep are some of the fondest memories of my youth, and the foundation of my doula training. In 1998 I was blessed with a son of my own, and through experiencing some trauma and side-effects due to my epidural, I was launched down a path of educating myself about childbirth that continues today. Having loved over 30 mothers through their birth journeys, I feel passionate about supporting women physically and emotionally as they choose the best path for their birth and mothering journeys. I love educating women about the choices they have in childbirth and helping them find the power handed down to them from generations of strong women. I completed DONA training in March of 2017 and completed a Hypnobirthing series in June of 2017. I am currently providing doula services and midwifery as a Primary Midwife under supervision. I work in the Wasatch Front area of Utah from Salt Lake through Nephi and beyond. I live in the Payson, Utah area. I look forward to using my experiences to bless and love many more women entering motherhood!
I homeschool my children and enjoy singing, sewing, and gardening. I’m apprenticing as a midwife.
I am passionate about supporting you in the birth you want and deserve.
I believe that pregnancy and birth are enormous spiritual rites and should be treated as such. No matter the way you bring your babe earthside I’m here to support and empower you.

After twenty-five years experience as a wife and mother, I wanted to give back to the community. So, I returned to the University of Utah to complete my degree in Human Development and Family Studies as well as a Certified Family Life Educator. After several years working in the non-profit sector, my universe has shifted to a desire to help families as a postpartum doula, to coach parents on parenting skills and educate the community on the importance of family.
I love assisting families to reach their full potential by fostering strong, loving relationships. In my spare time I enjoys traveling, reading, gardening and spending time with my family.
DONA, Advanced Doula, and Curtis Method Hypnodoula trained. Certified Stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula with additional trainings in Spinning Babies, Rebozo, and Reflexology for the Pregnant Mom and birth photography. Also do Belly Binding. See website for more on me and my services!
My philosophy on birth as a doula was fostered through a variety of experiences: I received a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from The University of Illinois at Chicago, where I focused my academic work on traditional birth attendants and how birthing practices varied between cultures. I helped conduct research with the college of nursing on prenatal health care development in the United States and Africa. I was captivated by the supportive, nurturing birth practices I was researching and the positive health outcomes they fostered. This is where I discovered that it takes a strong network of family, community and woman-to-woman support to birth and raise a baby. This is where a doula’s role becomes so valuable as she helps to support each one of these relationships. My experience attending births in my own family and in a professional role have continued to strengthen this concept for me as I have seen a variety of teams work with new mothers to create an empowering birth experience for her. ( I often find it personally empowering as well). I have a strong background in postpartum care from working in a birthing center as postpartum care staff and I was a full-time nanny for 7 years. I attended Brigham Young University for nursing/health science and I am studying to be a nurse and midwife
I am a lover of the outdoors. I am a dancer. I am a doula. I am Birthing From Within Mentor. I am a student midwife.
I have a BS degree in Psychology and minor in Family and Human Development; while raising my four children I have intermittently worked as a social worker in a variety of settings and have always assisted women and families. It has been an easy transition from social worker to birth worker. I am currently working on my 2nd bachelors degree, studying at Midwives College of Utah. I find it an honor to assist women and appreciate their trust in allowing me in their birth space. My desire is for expectant parents to prepare for and feel empowered in their birth experience no matter the outcome. I believe birth should be a rite of passage and the journey should be explored and cherished.
I love supporting families in doula care and childbirth education.
My goal as a doula is to help my clients and their partners feel empowered and confident about their pregnancy and birth. Birth is so beautiful and I want to help families experience a strengthening and empowering birth.
I would love to meet with you about becoming your doula!
With 21 years as a doula, I’ve been blessed to help hundreds of mothers in the birthing and postpartum experience. This has filled my soul! I love supporting pregnant women and helping them navigate the journey that lies ahead of them. Delivering my five children were the five best days of my life! I want to help you to make childbirth the best day of your life too.
I loved labor! I want to instill in women the desire to trust their innate abilities to birth. Child birth should not be feared but looked forward to! I am an incredible birth doula, the go-to postpartum doula in Utah, a college professor, a vocalist and pianist, a loving wife, mother and adoring grandma! 1 in 3 moms will end their pregnancy with a cesarean. Doulas are trained and experienced in techniques and physical and emotional skills to reduce your risk of cesarean by at least 50%, some recent studies suggest that this may be 60%-80%.
I believe every mom who wants Doula support should be able to receive it. I am personally fond of, and specialize in caring for moms who are first time moms, moms who have had a previous cesarean and are striving for a VBAC (vaginal birth after a cesarean) and moms who have had previous birth trauma. It is my hope that with the right support, education and encouragement that these 3 groups of moms can have a beautiful and positive birth experience. That they may take with them knowledge to carry over to later pregnancies and birth experiences and that they may know that they are strong and capable of handling tough life events.
I graduated from UVU with my B.S. in family studies. Before heading back to school I was a medical assistant for ten years. In 2008 I became intrigued with the options surrounding birth. My first two boys born 16 and 14 years ago I was not informed and therefore not prepared for my birthing experiences. After having my boys I had a gut feeling and I just knew that there had to be a better, more peaceful way to birth babies.
My Qualifications: Family Life Educator, and trained Birth and Post-Partum Doula.
If you don’t know what your options are, then you don’t have any!
Serving Southern Utah.
I am a well-trained doula who is very passionate about what I do! I have trained as a birth doula through DONA International, and through Birth Learning as an Advanced Doula. I have also been trained specifically in working with survivors of abuse – and in the use of a rebozo for comfort during pregnancy, labor, and birth. I am a trained postpartum doula through Midwives College of Utah – an internationally recognized school of midwifery. Additionally, I am a yoga instructor and have worked with women in each trimester of pregnancy.
I believe that birth is normal and natural and that we should trust women and their bodies more! I also believe that having choices and being informed about your options are some of the most empowering and important things in ensuring a positive birth experience. I hope to help all those I serve feel as though they had these things and to come out of birth feeling as powerful and amazing as they are!
The postpartum period is not always recognized as the incredibly significant and important time that it is. I love having the opportunity to nurture and support mothers through this life-changing experience, and to help families make a more smooth transition with the addition of a new baby. The journey doesn’t end at birth, and I would be so honored to help any mother have a more pleasant fourth trimester!
I have been a Doula practicing in the Salt Lake Valley for 10 years. My training included working with my mentor who is a licensed clinical hypnotherapist and one of the busiest doulas in the Salt Lake Valley. During the year that I shadowed with her I attended hundreds of births and sitting in on multiple childbirth class series. I continue to further my education by attending conferences every year and have training in all relaxation and coping techniques that can be useful during childbirth. Including, the use of essential oils, acupressure, music therapy, hydrotherapy, movement, spinning babies, Bradleys, hypno birthing, hypno babies, mindful breathing and more. It is important to me that each mother and her partner feel supported and then dad’s especially feel included and able to participate at the level that they desire. As my husband put it after the birth of our first son and the use of our Doula “the Doula was there to make (Dad) feel like a knight in shining armor, able to help him say all the right thing and make all the right suggestions”
I am also an educator for Birth Learning, my partners and I teach an advanced Doula training. In addition to our Doula services.
I also teach a coping skills class to assist in the postpartum recovery process. This class is targeted for those who might be experiencing prenatal or postpartum depression anxiety or mood disorders.
I also teach hypnosis and mindfulness 101.
This class is designed for professionals or parents who are interested in learning about using relaxation techniques like mindfulness, meditation or hypnosis during childbirth.
Another class that I teach is a religion based childbirth class titled Created to Birth. This class is designed to help mothers connect to the gifts they have been given by their Creator. To help them have a more positive birthing experience as they gain knowledge and information about being designed to birth and build coping skills.
My name is Jessica Poulsen and I am a mother of 1 energetic little boy and 1 sweet little girl. I am passionate about many things including breastfeeding, gentle and instinctual parenting, and empowering women to take charge of their bodies and their births.
I have been a CAPPA Certified Birth Doula for 4 years and have been an advocate of women’s rights (especially in the sacred experience of birth) for as long as I can remember. I started my journey into the birth worker world after the birth of my son. I realized during my not-so-woman-centered birth that having more Doulas in the area was MUCH needed. I later went on to have the most healing and empowering birth experience 2 years later that even further instilled this passion and fire for birth within my soul. Every single woman deserves to feel the way I felt that day and as I Doula I make that my goal. Whatever your birth preferences are, YOU deserve to feel empowered and in the drivers seat.
I believe birth can be an enjoyable, transcending, life-changing, and empowering experience. I believe birth is a safe physiological event, not a medical emergency. I chose to become a doula to educate women about their options and aid in making their birth experience a positive one. Trusting a woman’s intuition and allowing their choices of where and how to give birth should be encouraged and embraced.
I am a mom to my own 5 young children, a new midwife, doula, placenta encapsulation specialist and belly bind-er .
My Name is Sarah Andreason. I’ve been a doula for 3 years. I am currently working on my CAPPA certification, and am also forming a doula birth group to meet all your pre and postnatal needs.
Hi I’m Emily! Thank you for considering me to be your doula. I love all things pregnancy: birth, mothers, and babies! I completed a DONA approved birth doula training in 2011 and I have been attending to mothers in labor ever since. Please visit my website to learn more about me, including the services I offer and my rates.
I have had the opportunity to work, learn and train within the birthing community since 2010; purposeful growth and development as a birth doula began in 2013. I have extensive experience supporting the physical and emotional needs of laboring women. I believe a key hallmark is my ability to provide unbiased and objective information empowering women to make their own choices and decisions. I, like most modern, competent doulas profoundly respect my clients and their wishes. I am DONA, ICEA and PRODOULA trained and am actively engaged in acquiring my Birthing From Within childbirth educator and mentoring certification. I graduated from the University of Utah in 1999 with a BS in Behavioral Science & Health with a minor in Sociology. I later had the opportunity to attend The Graduate School of Midwifery at Bastyr University located in Seattle, Washington. Prior to engaging in my graduate studies I was employed as a Clinical Scientist; this research-focused employment exposed me to a wide-range of therapeutic topics, ultimately leading me to focus on women’s health and wellness issues. During this period I also had the opportunity of becoming a mother; the single most profound experience(s) of my life.
I have had the opportunity to serve on The Board of The Utah Doula Association and am actively involved in the Volunteer Doula Program sponsored by The University of Utah Hospital via the Associates of Birth Care Health Care.

I am a birth doula, postpartum doula and board-certified music therapist serving families in Salt Lake County. I love working with all families including LGBTQ+ parents, adoptive parents, and single parents. I accompany families giving birth in the hospital, a birth center, or at home, and I support all types of birth. I believe it is every birthing person’s right to be educated about their birth options, and to have a birth experience that is safe, supported and empowering.
As a board-certified music therapist, I have extensive clinical training on how to use music to help people reach goals, experience deep inner connection, and process difficult emotions. I specialize in Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth, an evidence-based technique where I help expecting families incorporate music into their labor in order to experience deeper connection, confidence and strength during their birth experience. I also help parents write original songs called “womb songs” to their babies, facilitating deep bonding and connection.
Hiya, my name is Susan Mossman. I am a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor, placenta specialist and childbirth educator.
I have always had a passion for supporting women and have been a birth junky since the birth of my son 18 years ago.
While accompanying my husband (USAF) to a base in the UK, I became involved in a group called M!nd the Gap. It was designed to support women during pregnancy, throughout birth and postpartum whilst their partners were deployed. I realized that the support we were giving these women was doula work. I decided to professionally train as doula in 2013.
Our family moved to Hill AFB in 2015. I have had the honor to continue serving military and non-military families in Weber/Davis counties.
Please feel free to e-mail or call with any questions about my services. I would love to chat with you about what your ideal birth experience looks like.
