My videographer/doula saved my life. She was the one who noticed I was hemorrhaging after the birth of my fifth child. It was this experience that birthed my strong desire to become a Doula.
I am a homeschooling mom to 5, beloved wife to one, and your neighborhood Mexican mama to many.
I grew up immersed in the Latin culture. La Posadas, Catholic Mass, and migrant worker communities all were important fixtures of my childhood. But it wasn’t until I began studying to become a doula that I began to make connections between birth and the culture of my youth.
I dove into conversations with my family, books, online research, and the Latinx community. Little by little-guided by the wisdom of my ancestors, the outline for my Cuarentena Postpartum Doula Training came together.
Since those days, I have continued to broaden my experience in the birth community. I have experience with teaching childbirth education, training and writing curriculum for other doulas, and supporting families as both a birth and Cuarentena doula. I am a co-instructor and owner of Raise the Bar Doulas. I am also co-founder of Birth Circle and a board member of the Empowering Fearless Birth nonprofit.
My passion for helping others has not ended with birth. I am constantly seeking out new healing modalities. Whether via tangible means like herbalism or through spiritual healing, I am here to support. This work can include soul retrieval, transition work, closing of the bones, fear release, and aromatherapy. Many of these modalities come with their own set of tools and products that I make myself or source directly from their native countries.
As you might have guessed by this point, I am a master multi-tasker. This has given me the opportunity to serve in various volunteer capacities in my community. I have been blessed to serve as a board member of both the United Angels and the Children’s Entrepreneurial Market. In my spare time, I enjoy singing in Solringen (a seasonal women’s singing group) and hosting friends and family in my home year round.
Having 6 babies of my own (including twins) & not having my deliveries turn out the way I expected, I am passionate about helping women know that they have options and what those options are.
Although I went to nursing school, I left my career as a nurse after being put in numerous situations where I was forced to do things that I felt were not in the best interest of the patient (but instead what was best for the hospital or doctor's pocket book). I feel that now working as a doula I am able to help bridge that gap and help prevent such situations.
Women are amazing, strong and phenomenal... Let me help you shine!
Hello! My first experience being pregnant and giving birth eight years ago was transformative, beautiful, and empowering. I found a new passion for birth and have been constantly learning since. I believe birth is powerful and so are women! I believe birth matters profoundly and women deserve to feel heard, seen, and supported during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I am passionate about helping others have a positive birth experience and feel called to this beautiful work.
A little more about me: I am DONA trained and VBAC Link trained. I have a bachelor's degree in human development. I have experienced four beautiful births, two in the water. I homeschool my kids and love reading, playing games, and exploring the world with them. I also love journaling, running, hiking, yoga, and being in nature.
