As part of the Utah Doula Association mission, we provide doula services to under-resourced families in our community. We understand that hiring a doula may not be possible for your family for a variety of reasons. Therefore, the UDA has a grant program for birth and postpartum doula services. The grant program does not provide funds for a doula you’ve already hired; rather, the program matches you with a UDA doula who is participating in the program.
The UDA offers 4 birth doula grants per year at no cost to the family. The grant includes one prenatal visit, continuous support during labor (up to 16 hours), and one postpartum visit.
The UDA offers 2 postpartum doula grants per year with no cost to the family. The award includes 20 hours of support in the first two months of the baby’s life.
If there are not any grants available, the UDA will try to match you with a doula in training or a volunteer. If you are able to contribute some amount of money or are willing to discuss trade, please indicate on your application.
Anyone can apply. The UDA will evaluate the circumstances listed on the application to determine eligibility. We prioritize under-resourced individuals and families.
We suggest applying 4 months before your due date, however, all applications will be considered.
Please follow the link to the applicable grant and fill out the application form.
The volunteer UDA award selection committee meets once a quarter (every 3 months) to review all applications. If you are selected as a recipient, you will be given 2-4 profiles of doulas who are interested and available to assist with your birth or postpartum. You will respond with your top choice and introductions will be made. If you select a doula and do not want to work with that person, reach out to the UDA to discuss another option.
